Vietnam Wins Gold Medals at AI Olympiad
Two students, Nguyen Viet Trung Nhan and Nguyen Huu Tuan, won the gold medals at the 2026 International AI Olympiad.
The silver medal was won by Nguyen Anh Hung, an 11th grader.
Four students won bronze medals: Phan Dinh Triet, Le Minh Quan, Ha Gia Minh, and Nguyen Le Duy Khang.
The organizers gave out 37 gold, 73 silver, and 110 bronze medals. Vietnam's team did well, showing their talent and skills in artificial intelligence.
The Ministry of Education and Training said this achievement shows the quality of Vietnam's education. It also helps the ministry make artificial intelligence a part of Vietnam's national competition.
In 2026, the Ministry of Education and Training had a two-round selection process for the national team. 1,188 students competed online, and 246 moved to the second round.
The problems were challenging, requiring contestants to solve artificial intelligence problems from start to finish. They needed knowledge of machine learning, programming, and more.
The 2026 International AI Olympiad was held in Kazakhstan from August 2-8, with 108 teams and 471 students competing.
More countries and territories participated this year, and the competition materials were translated into 44 languages.
