Fans of 'Sopranos' are sad about the loss of star Vincent Pastore.

The actor who played Salvatore 'Big Pussy' Bonpensiero on HBO's 'Sopranos' was found dead in his Bronx home.

I'm a fan who's sad about losing Pastore because he helped make the best season of TV.

Ranking the main enemies of 'The Sopranos'

I love 'The Sopranos' and have written about it many times.

'The Sopranos' star Vinny Pastore died at 80.

Season two of 'The Sopranos' is the best TV season.

This is thanks to Pastore's role as Tony Soprano's friend and soldier, Big Pussy.

In season one, Big Pussy is Tony's confidant, more than his second-in-command, Silvio Dante.

Tony goes to Big Pussy for advice, showing their strong connection.

But by the end of season one, Big Pussy is suspected of working with the FBI.

When he returns in season two, he must regain the trust of his crew.

What makes Big Pussy's return unique is that the audience knows he's working with the FBI.

This makes for exciting TV as we watch Tony figure out the truth.

Big Pussy's storyline also shows us more about the FBI's work.

This all leads to the moment Tony discovers the truth about Big Pussy.

In the second-to-last episode, Richie Aprile is killed by his fiancée.

This happens just as Richie is about to attack Tony.

Then we remember the problem with Big Pussy.

After a late-night meal, Tony has a violent episode of food poisoning.

While sick, Tony has dreams that hint at the truth about Big Pussy.

A fish with Big Pussy's voice says, 'I've been working for the feds, Tony'.

'Sopranos' star Lorraine Bracco says she's looking for love at 70.

Tony and his crew take Big Pussy on a final boat ride.

'You were like a brother to me, to all of us.'

The crew kills Big Pussy and gives him a sea burial.

The season ends with a montage of the destruction caused by Tony and his crew.

The final shot shows the waves of the North Jersey shoreline as 'Thru and Thru' plays.

Pastore rose to fame in 'The Sopranos'.

It's perfect.

A perfect ending to a nearly perfect season.

Season two is great, not just because of Big Pussy's storyline.

Richie Aprile is a menacing villain played by David Proval.

Richie's interactions with Tony are funny and scary.

Season two introduces Furio Giunta, who causes tension with Big Pussy.
