What a Superfan’s Protest Over the Oilers’ Formenton Signing Reveals

Loewen identifies herself as a sexual‑assault survivor. She said, “As a sexual assault survivor, I must stand by my morals and stand with the woman at the centre of this case.” She added, “For that reason, as long as Formenton remains an Oiler, I CANNOT AND WILL NOT support or cheer for this team.”

The former “Mama Stanley” has been a visible presence at Oilers games since the mid‑1980s, often photographed with other fans worldwide. Her decision does not target any current player, only the management’s choice to bring Formenton onto the roster.
