Inside the “Great American Beer Heist” and Pabst’s $20,000 Reward

On Aug 17, thieves stole 1,602 cases of Pabst Blue Ribbon – roughly 40,000 lb of beer – from a warehouse in Montclair, California, a loss valued at about $70,000.

Pabst Brewing’s chief executive, Greig DeBow, posted a video on TikTok and a follow‑up on Instagram, directly calling out the thieves and asking anyone who saw the truck to get in touch.

In the same posts, DeBow announced a reward of up to $20,000 for information that leads to the recovery of the beer, and he set a deadline of Sept 9 for any tips.

Police have labeled the incident the “Great American Beer Heist.” Their investigation suggests the theft may be connected to two other cargo robberies reported on Aug 17 that involved shipments from Anheuser‑Busch.

Pabst hopes the public appeal and the cash incentive will generate leads, help recover the missing cargo, and expose a potentially larger theft network operating in the region.
