1:24The flyby was designed to avoid any

1:27collision.

1:32be able to capture an image like this. I

1:35am absolutely delighted. I would like to

1:37thank the research team for all their

1:39efforts.

1:41>> In 2022, NASA successfully altered the

1:44orbit of an asteroid by crashing its

1:46DART spacecraft into it.

1:48The latest Hayabusa 2 experiment has

1:51added close-range observation

1:52capabilities, which could help inform

1:55future efforts to deflect asteroids from

1:57their course.

1:59Compared to approach missions, an

2:01asteroid flyby happens in just an

2:03instant, and the scientific data

2:05collected is also limited. However, it

2:08allows for experiments to design a

2:09collision mission to deflect an asteroid

2:12and protect the Earth.
