After the turtle covered the nest with sand and went back to the sea, conservation staff collected all 101 eggs. They moved the eggs to a special hatchery that is meant to protect them.

The marine protected area says sea turtle eggs usually hatch in 45 to 60 days, depending on temperature. When the baby turtles hatch, staff will watch them and help them reach the ocean safely.

Hon Cau Marine Protected Area is a well‑known sea‑turtle nesting site. From May to October, staff and volunteers patrol the beaches, and they also do night patrols to keep nests safe. The protected zone is about 12,500 hectares, and Hon Cau Island itself is 140 hectares.

By moving the eggs to a hatchery and helping the hatchlings, the team increases the chances that these rare turtles survive. This shows how targeted actions—patrols, egg collection, and hatchery care—can protect endangered marine species.
