1:10But it's a great course.
1:12Don't get me wrong, it's a great course.
1:13I loved playing there.
1:14I loved being in Scotland and playing.
1:16I went to Ireland and I played, as well.
1:19So I've had a little European golf thing, which I never do.
1:22-Ireland's tricky, too, though, isn't it?
1:23Like, windy and rainy? -It's windy. It's raining.
1:25We got rained on.
1:27We had one round. We were playing.
1:29It was nice out, beautiful. Then it started raining.
1:31So you have to put on all that rain gear, your hat, your stuff.
1:33Then it's freezing and you're cold.
1:35Then it gets hot again, so you take it off.
1:37And then it sleeted. It was sleeting.
1:39-Oh, my God.
1:40-So you couldn't figure it out, man.
1:42It's like bipolar weather. -Yeah.
1:44You're like, "Dude, I'm ready to go home."
1:45-That's what it is.
1:46-This summer had some very big, memorable sports moments.
1:49I wanted to hear your thoughts on a few,
1:50if you don't mind. -Yeah.
1:52-How about the Knicks winning
1:53their first championship in 53 years?!

1:58Come on. That was good, right?
2:00-That was good.
2:02And, you know, I went to a lot of the games, the playoff games.
2:05-Of course. You're a New Yorker.
2:07-But I missed the two final games here at home
2:09because I was in Scotland.
2:11So -- But I'm in a hotel room and I can't see it.
2:14It's not on TV, and I'm thinking it's the NBA Finals.
2:17I should be able to find it. Couldn't find it.
2:19So I'm looking at my app on the phone,
2:22and you don't realize -- I looked at the app.
2:24They were down 20-something.
2:26I put my phone down. I said, "I'm going to bed.
2:28You know, this game is over, time difference."
2:30I wake up, look at it. They're down 17.
2:32I'm going, "Oh, it's not much time.
2:34I'm going to bed."
2:35I wake up, I look.
2:36They're down one with a little bit over 5 seconds left.
2:38-Yes.
2:39-You don't realize how long a commercial break is
2:42until your phone's trying to update.
2:43And I'm like, "Come on!"
2:45-You're like, "Hurry up! Come on. I want to go to bed."
2:47-I woke up everybody in Scotland when I saw they won.
2:50-Yeah!
2:51Was that not the most exciting thing?
2:54And the best team. -It was the best team.
2:56And the great thing about it was,
2:58it was like the city wasn't divided.
3:00You know, if the Giants win, the Jets fans.
3:03You know, if the Yankees win, the Mets fans aren't happy.
3:06Everybody was happy for the Knicks.
3:08It was just an energy we needed.
3:10So I'm happy for them, man. And congrats to them.
3:13And I want to say congratulations
3:14to my guy Karl-Anthony Towns.
3:15He got married. -That's right. KAT.
3:17-Big year. Big year for the Knicks.
3:19-We love you, Kit-Kat. -Kit-Kat?
3:21-I tried to give him the nickname Kit-Kat.
3:23-That don't work. -He did not like it at all.
3:24Yeah. -As your friend, don't do that.

3:47and how much he wanted it.
3:48But it was cool to see the young lion come in
3:51and the old lion go out, kind of like "The Lion King" of soccer.

3:58Messi lifted him up. -Yeah, yeah.

4:00When he was a baby, he was with this kid.
4:02Now this kid is.

4:11and, like, Herschel Walker when I was a kid.

4:14And then I ended up playing with him and against him.

4:18And I was like -- When I was playing with him,
4:19I'm like, "Damn, you're old."

4:23What did you make of LeBron James leaving the Lakers
4:25to go to the Philadelphia 76ers?
4:27-Hey, you guys are excited.

4:32But I didn't understand it.
4:35I thought he was going to go back home to Cleveland.
4:37I thought he was going to go to Miami.
4:38-Yes. -But he went to Philly.
4:40I think he feels like they have a good chance of winning,
4:42when they brought in Brown, who's an incredible player.
4:45They have an incredible roster, an incredible team.
4:47But what's throwing me off is that LeBron --
4:49They're like, "He's going to live in New York
4:51and then he's going to commute to Philly."
4:53I'm like, "Well, he really wanted to be a Knick."
4:56-Yeah!

5:46but there's so many other things that we do outside of that.
5:48And I think that people love to hear authentic conversations.
5:52People love to see people and maybe hear something
5:56that gives them hope and makes them believe in
5:57what they can do in their life and in their business.
5:59So that's what it's all about.

6:10It's "9/11: United We Stand -- 25 Years Later."
6:13-Yeah. -It is a great special.
6:15It's a powerful special about how we all came
6:18and united after 9/11 here in the world,
6:22but especially in New York, as well.
6:24-Yeah. And you were part of it, so thank you.
6:25-I'm in this. Yeah, absolutely.
6:27You know, I was honored to even be asked,
6:29but anything with you,
6:30I know you do amazing stuff and great stuff.
6:33But we were here, and I was on
6:34"Saturday Night Live" at the time.
6:36And -- whew! -- it was scary.
6:37-It was a very strange time for all of us and a sad time
6:41for all of us.
6:42And -- But what this documentary showcases is,
6:47you know, the healing process of that,
6:48but healing through sports, through entertainment,
6:51through comedy, through music, through Broadway.
6:54And we have an incredible group of contributors to it,
6:58from Jon Stewart to Jon Bon Jovi to yourself
7:00to Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos.
7:02-Derek Jeter. -Derek Jeter,
7:04who is in this with us to talk about Joe Torre,
7:07you know, how we were able to heal,
7:10and not just here in New York, but as a nation,
7:12because we needed something.
7:13At first, it felt like it wasn't important to play football,
7:15which it wasn't that first week,
7:17or it wasn't important to play baseball
7:19or do "Saturday Night Live" or anything like that.
7:21-Correct. -But at the end of the day,
7:22those were the moments
7:24that people were able to kind of move on
7:26and just to have a few hours to remove themselves
7:29from all the trauma that was going on.
7:31And it's a tribute to the victims.
7:33It's a tribute to their families,
7:35to all the first responders,
7:36for everybody who had to go through that.
7:38And now to see how --
7:40just the resilience and the love and the way
7:42that we all came together in that point,
7:44maybe to give us some hope to do it again,
7:46because I feel like we need to do that again.
7:47-It's amazing that you did that
7:48and honored everybody in that.
7:50And I never forget, obviously,
7:52and I when I watched it, it kind of brought me back,
7:55and I go, "God, that was just."
7:57-I watched it, and I'll be honest with you, man.
8:00I was watching it with Constance, my partner.
8:03And we're -- And I'm trying to be all stoic and cool.
8:07-Yeah.
8:08-And, eventually, I just grabbed the tissues.
8:10-Oh, yeah. -Yeah. I let it go.
8:11-I was like -- -It's beautiful.
8:13-It's beautiful.
8:15I mean, it brings back some memories
8:16and things that make you cry,
8:18but also a part of that is the beauty of it
8:21that brings out these emotions in me --
8:23-And take care of each other. -Yeah.
8:24How we took care of each other and how
8:27we've continued to take care of each other
8:28and how we don't forget.
8:29And I think that's the biggest thing,
8:31that this was the biggest tragedy
8:33we've ever had around the country,
8:34not just here in New York City.
8:36And I just wanted to honor everybody in this way.
8:38-There's a scene in there that's bizarre
8:41that I didn't really know about.
8:43It's kind of a full-circle moment involving...
8:45-Pete Davidson. -...Pete Davidson,
8:46who's a very funny comedian.
8:48Tragically, his father was --
8:50-Passed away during 9/11. His father was a firefighter.
8:54And I was doing an interview for "GMA" with Ariana Grande,
8:57and they were engaged at the time.
8:59And she kept saying to me, "When we're done,
9:00I want you to meet my guy Pete, my guy Pete."
9:02And I'm like, "I know who he is.
9:03Yes. I'll meet him. No big -- You know, when we're done."
9:05Well, he comes into the room.
9:07She introduces me, and he says, "Hey, I'm Pete."
9:09I'm like, "Of course I know you. I'm Michael. Nice to meet you."
9:12He goes, "Do you remember the first game
9:14you had back at Giants Stadium after 9/11?"
9:17And I was like, "Yeah."
9:18He goes, "You guys had kids come out there with you on the field.
9:21You were holding hands,
9:22had kids on your shoulders and everything."
9:24And I'm like, "Absolutely."
9:25He goes, "I was one of those kids."
9:27And I'm like, "Wow! Oh, my goodness. That's amazing."
9:29He goes, "No, I was the kid on your shoulder."
9:32-Wow. -Yeah. Freaked me out.
9:34Completely freaked me out. -Isn't that wild?
9:37-But, I mean, who would have known?
9:40And -- But Pete is like a little brother to me now.
9:42I absolutely love him. -Yeah, we love him.
9:44-He's such a gentle soul. And -- Yeah.
9:47-It's amazing. It's powerful. You have to watch this.
9:49It's amazing. And thank you for making this
9:51and getting everybody together and doing this.

10:14that there are people out there who appreciate them most of all
10:17because they're doing something
10:19that we weren't capable of doing.
10:21That's the biggest show
10:22that we wanted to give them was a show of respect.
