0:58fastest journey from Tokyo's Shinagawa

1:00station to Nagoya currently takes about

1:0290 minutes by shinkansen and around 2

1:05hours and 20 minutes to Osaka. The new

1:08maglev line is expected to cut those

1:10times to 40 minutes and 67 minutes

1:13respectively. The first section between

1:15Shinagawa and Nagoya was originally

1:17scheduled to open in 2027

1:20but has now been pushed back to 2036 at

1:23the earliest.

1:25Rising labor and material costs have

1:27also doubled the estimated cost of this

1:29section.

1:33>> If this maglev high-speed train line is

1:35put into operation, the travel time from

1:37Tokyo to Osaka will be equivalent to the

1:40travel time within the Tokyo

1:41metropolitan area today.

1:46government to form the concept of a
