How Hiroshi’s Monthly Flights Won An’s Heart

How Hiroshi’s Monthly Flights Won An’s Heart
Two years later, in 2024, Hiroshi quit his banking job and chose Vietnam for his first trip abroad. He stopped by An’s ramen shop but could not meet her that day.
He later messaged An, saying the noodles were delicious and that he would return in June 2025. On 26 June 2025, the two finally met. During his three‑day stay, Hiroshi visited the restaurant daily, received a traditional conical hat as a farewell gift, and was moved to tears.
Back in Japan, Hiroshi began booking monthly round‑trip flights to Ho Chi Minh City in 2025, hoping to see An again. Despite the distance and cultural differences, An kept her guard up and gave him no encouragement.
When Hiroshi announced a mid‑July visit, An told him the restaurant was closed to avoid him. He rescheduled and kept returning in August, September and later months. In September 2025, An even gave her staff the day off and shut the restaurant, then sent Hiroshi a firm text asking him to stop pursuing her.
Hiroshi left Vietnam briefly but continued to follow An’s social media. He returned in November and December 2025, spending his days at the ramen shop and evenings at her cocktail bar. His steady presence won the sympathy of the staff, who urged An to reconsider his intentions.
By January 2026, An began to guide Hiroshi around the city and admitted that his devotion had changed her feelings. He confessed that his earlier excuses about food and a love of flying were only a cover for his love for her.
In March 2026, Hiroshi proposed on the island of Phu Quoc, presenting a diamond ring and 209 roses. The couple married in July 2026, celebrating their love before hundreds of guests.
Hiroshi’s relentless monthly flights, even after An’s refusals, show how personal effort and cultural empathy can bridge geographic and social barriers in a relationship.
