Defence attorney Kevin Reddington asked the judge to remove that juror, arguing the juror was refusing to listen to the law on reasonable doubt, but Judge Sullivan declined, saying it would be improper for him to side with either side of the deliberations.
After receiving the note, Judge Sullivan instructed the jurors to continue deliberating and later gave the same instruction a second time, sending the jury home and scheduling another session for the next day.
If the jury still cannot agree, Judge Sullivan could declare a mistrial, which would force prosecutors to decide whether to retry the case—a trial that has already featured more than 80 witnesses and over 300 exhibits.
Lindsay Clancy, 36, has admitted she killed her three children; if she is convicted of first‑degree murder, she faces life in prison without the possibility of parole.
