Daytime Russian Strikes Rise as U.S. Envoys Prepare to Arrive in Ukraine
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said U.S. envoys are expected to visit Kyiv within the coming days as part of renewed diplomatic efforts to end the war.
Until recently, most of these attacks happened at night, but this week they have also been carried out during daylight hours. The front line in eastern and southern Ukraine remains largely deadlocked.
According to the Russian state news agency Tass, American negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are scheduled to travel to Moscow first and then to Kyiv on Saturday and Sunday. The Kremlin’s spokesperson Dmitry Peskov declined to confirm the plan, and U.S. officials have not immediately responded.
The shift to daytime strikes comes just as the diplomatic itinerary is being set, prompting analysts to wonder whether the timing is meant to send a signal to the United States and its partners ahead of the talks.
