Malaysia Gets 21.1 Million Tourists in First Half

Malaysia had 21.1 million tourists from January to June. This is 17.7% more than in 2019 before the Covid pandemic.

The Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign helped with this growth. Better connections with other countries and big events also helped.

Most tourists came from ASEAN countries. They made up 72.8% of all tourists.

Singapore sent the most tourists to Malaysia. Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar also sent more tourists.

Many tourists visited the Sri Subramaniar Swamy Temple at Batu Caves in Malaysia.

More tourists came from East Asia, Central Asia, Oceania, and the Americas.

Singapore, Indonesia, and China sent many tourists to Malaysia. China's tourists increased due to easier visa rules.

Thailand had 16.7 million tourists from January to June. This is 3.09% less than the same time last year.

Vietnam had 12.3 million tourists in the first six months. This is 14.9% more than last year.

Singapore had 8.12 million tourists. This is 1.7% less than last year due to fewer tourists from Indonesia and India.
