Canadian teams fly aid to remote Nepal villages after earthquake
Darren Tosh, who is a response manager for Samaritan’s Purse Canada, flew to Nepal just two days after the quake to organize the delivery of relief supplies.
A Samaritan’s Purse plane loaded with 40 tonnes of food, medicine and other aid left southern Alberta and landed in Kathmandu, bringing the first big shipment of help.
Tosh explained that the hardest‑hit villages are about four hours away from Kathmandu by road, and many remote villages cannot be reached by road at all. He said roughly 3,000 households are still cut off and will need to be reached by helicopter.
The Canadian effort works together with teams from the Korean government, the Australian Army and American responders, all trying to get supplies to the isolated communities.
