NYT Sports Connections: Hints and Answers for August 14, 2026
This game is a version of the New York Times word game for sports fans.
The game is about finding common threads between words. It gets harder each day, so we have hints and tips to help.
You can find today's puzzle answer at the end of this article or keep reading for clues.
The New York Times and The Athletic made this game. You can play it on your phone or computer.
Each puzzle has 16 words and four groups. The groups can be about books, countries, or other things.
If you get a group right, those words are removed. If you get it wrong, it counts as a mistake.
You can move the words around to make it easier. Each group has a color: yellow, green, blue, or purple.
Want a hint about the groups without knowing what they are?
Yellow: Bad team
Green: Small conferences
Blue: Third place
Purple: Element
Need more help? The groups are about these things:
Yellow: Easy opponent
Green: Small college groups
Blue: Number three
Purple: Ends with an element
