0:00Located off the coast of Canzo, Thanh An
0:02is Ho Chi Minh City's only island
0:04commune. Like children everywhere,
0:06students here go to school every day.
0:09But living on an island means they have
0:11fewer opportunities to explore new ideas
0:13and experiences beyond the classroom.
0:15And this summer, young volunteers
0:17brought books, interactive learning
0:19activities, and inspiring stories to
0:21help broaden their horizons. And here's
0:23the full story.
0:28>> Instead of staying inside the library,
0:30students now read outdoors surrounded by
0:33trees and fresh air. The new reading
0:35corner has quickly become one of their
0:37favorite places on campus.
0:43>> This new reading space is open, cool,
0:46and comfortable. So, it's a nice place
0:47for us to sit and read. I only get to
0:49read books when I'm at school because we
0:51don't really have books at home.
0:56When children play and see their friends
0:58reading, they're encouraged to pick up a
1:00book as well. We hope it will build a
1:02lasting reading habit. It is also
1:04surrounded by trees, so students can
1:06enjoy reading while learning to
1:07appreciate nature and care for the
1:09environment.
1:13>> If books plant the first seeds of
1:14dreams, then real stories help those
1:17seeds grow. Students also met young
1:19Vietnamese studying in Thailand,
1:21Singapore, Australia, and the UK. Their
1:24stories about learning English,
1:25scholarships, and life overseas gave
1:28local students a new perspective on
1:30their own learning journey.
1:34>> I have dreamed of studying abroad since
1:36I was in middle school. Listening to
1:39today's speakers helped me understand
1:41more about studying and living in other
1:43countries. I feel more confident about
1:45pursuing my dream.
1:46>> We want students here to believe that
1:49where they grow up shouldn't limit their
1:50ambitions. We hope they will feel more
1:52confident about exploring opportunities
1:55beyond the island, including study
1:57abroad, so that one day they can bring
1:59what they have learned back to their
2:00community and contribute to the city's
2:02development.
2:05>> From a new playground and outdoor
2:07library to full university scholarships,
2:10children on Tang An Island receive
2:12support at every stage of their learning
2:14journey. Like the young trees planted on
2:17campus today, with care and opportunity,
2:19they too can grow stronger and reach
2:22their dreams.
