The project's first phase is being built in An Giang Province with a total investment of nearly VND9 trillion. Construction started in late 2025.

A light rail is being built in Phu Quoc Island.

All foundations for the bridges are done. The bridge piers are 63% complete, and the piers themselves are 56% done.

After the substructures and piers are finished, the bridge superstructure will be built, followed by the installation of rails and other equipment.

The roadbed is almost finished, with 97% of the excavation and sand filling complete. Earth filling is 79% done.

Once the roadbed is mostly complete, the pavement and technical infrastructure will be built, if materials are available.

The project is working three shifts a day with nearly 600 workers to keep on schedule.

The LRT is one of the key transport projects for the APEC Economic Leaders' Week 2027.

Other major projects are being accelerated to be completed before April 30, 2027.

The LRT will cut travel time between the airport and the southern part of the island to about 20 minutes.

The project will provide an additional public transport option for residents and visitors.
