The Teacher Who Risked It All to Expose a Kindergarten’s Dirty Kitchen

After a heated dispute with the principal, Wang resigned on 11 September. Three days later she filed a formal complaint with the local discipline inspection commission, as required, and posted the same allegations on WeChat and Xiaohongshu.
In her posts she described cooks washing mops and drain covers directly in the wok used for children’s meals, using the food‑washing sink for other purposes, and soaking mosquito nets in disinfectant. She also said shoes were scrubbed in the vegetable sink.
Wang admitted she worried the whistleblowing could make it hard to find another job, but she said staying silent would have left her feeling guilty.
A joint investigation team later confirmed serious hygiene problems. The probe led to the removal of the principal, Zou, and the deputy principal, Qin, and the dismissal of cook Zhang.
The case highlighted how a single staff member’s courage can trigger official scrutiny and protect children’s health, even though the whistleblower may face personal and professional uncertainty.
