Singapore’s luxury‑home auction reveals its tough stance on seized assets
SRI, the brokerage handling the sale, is one of three firms appointed to auction properties tied to the case. The Nouvel 18 apartments range from 124 to 569 sq m, with guide prices of about S$31,600 to S$38,300 per square metre. Both developments are freehold; Nouvel 18 was completed in 2014 and New Futura in 2017.
In total, more than 80 properties and over 1,000 luxury items are slated for sale in phases through mid‑2027. Deloitte, appointed by the Singapore Police Force in July 2025, will manage the non‑cash assets, and all proceeds will be transferred to the government’s Consolidated Fund, as reported by Mothership.
The seized homes belong to three foreign nationals – Su Haijin, Lin Baoying and Zhang Ruijin – who were among ten people arrested in August 2023. According to The Straits Times, all ten were jailed, forced to forfeit their cash and assets, deported after serving their sentences and barred from re‑entering Singapore.
The auction shows Singapore’s systematic, transparent process for turning forfeited luxury assets into public revenue, highlighting the role of appointed brokers and auditors in safeguarding the proceeds.
