Kim Soo Hyun’s Step‑by‑Step Comeback After a Dating Scandal

The controversy started in March 2025, when reports claimed that actor Kim Soo Hyun had been in a relationship with the late actress Kim Sae Ron while she was still a minor.

Kim held an emergency press conference on March 31, where he denied the allegation and said the relationship began in 2019, after Kim Sae Ron had become an adult, and lasted about a year.

In May 2025, Kim Sae Ron’s family filed a criminal complaint accusing Kim of violating South Korea’s Child Welfare Act.

South Korean police later announced in July 2025 that they would not refer Kim for prosecution over the alleged Child Welfare Act violation, as reported by The Straits Times.

After the police decision, Kim started a gradual public comeback, filming an advertisement for a Filipino fashion brand on July 14 – his first professional engagement since March 2025.

He then appeared as a guest on Mahakarya RCTI 37 on August 23, a live program marking the 37th anniversary of Indonesian broadcaster RCTI.

Kim is also set to attend the awards ceremony organized by South Korean media outlet The Fact, which will be held at Busan Asiad Main Stadium.

Kim Sae Ron died at age 24 on February 16 2025; authorities found no evidence of foul play, according to The Korea Times.
