Canada beats Philippines 85-38 in Olympic pre‑qualifying tournament

Canada's senior women's basketball team beat the Philippines 85-38 on Wednesday at the Olympic pre‑qualifying official tournament in Guadalajara city, Mexico.

Yvonne Ejim scored 19 points for Canada, and Syla Swords added 15.

Canada started strong, leading 23-4 at Arena Astros and 46-11 at halftime in the game.

The eight‑team qualifier runs until Sunday.

Canada women beat Senegal 72-57 in the first tournament opener.

The Canadians opened the tournament with a 72-57 win over Senegal on Monday and will play host Mexico on Thursday.

The tournament winner will get a spot in a FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament in February 2028 future event.
