French Man Marries in Vietnam with Horse-Drawn Carriages
Brice was born in 1985 and has lived in Vietnam for over 15 years. He works as a food researcher and lives in Hanoi.
Brice loves Vietnam's beautiful landscapes and fast-paced life. After meeting his partner, Hong Ngoc, he felt at home.
Ngoc and Brice met in 2020 through a friend. She visited his house and was impressed by how neat and cozy it was.
Ngoc forgot her coat at Brice's house, so she had to go back for it. This gave them a chance to meet again and talk more.
Both Ngoc and Brice had been in relationships before, but they found they were a good match. They cared for each other and helped with their careers.
Ngoc was happy that Brice reminded her to care for her family and friends and to be kind to others.
Brice didn't think marriage was necessary. He believed that as long as they loved and took care of each other, that was enough.
Ngoc wanted to get married and have a wedding ceremony to make their bond stronger. She brought it up every year, but Brice kept putting it off.
When Brice's brother got married, he realized he should have a wedding too. This made him think about his own life and marriage.
Horse-drawn carriages were a special part of their wedding.
Ngoc and Brice had their engagement and wedding on the same day in Thai Nguyen. Then, they had a small ceremony in Hanoi.
They spent a year planning their wedding, including making a schedule for their friends who were traveling from around the world.
Ngoc and Brice also prepared their outfits and the venue for the wedding. Brice learned about Vietnamese wedding traditions to show respect.
Ngoc's mother, Nguyen Lan Huong, said Brice wanted to use buffalo-drawn carts for the engagement ceremony, but they used horse-drawn carriages instead.
Huong supported Brice's idea and borrowed horses and carts from villagers. She decorated the carriages with flowers and ornaments.
On the morning of the wedding, Brice and his family and friends traveled to Thai Nguyen. They used horse-drawn carriages to carry gifts to Ngoc's house.
Everyone in the groom's group wore traditional Vietnamese clothes. The engagement ceremony felt like a village festival, and everyone was happy.
After the ceremony, the bride and groom rode in a horse-drawn carriage to a cultural center for the wedding reception. Ngoc's mother was happy to see many people celebrating.
The wedding was a special day for Ngoc and Brice, and they were happy to share it with their friends and family.
