Fan of 'One Piece' and 'Naruto' Arrested for Abandoning Anime Orders
The police in Tokyo said Yoshida used 238 accounts to place orders on Shueisha's website from July 2024 to May 2025. She ordered items from 'One Piece' and 'Naruto'. She did this from many accounts.
Yoshida used two main methods to abandon her purchases. She would reserve items but not pay for them, or she would order items and then return them without paying. Sometimes, she would ignore delivery people. She also did not answer calls from them.
Shueisha said Yoshida's actions caused fake shortages. This meant real customers could not buy the products, and the company lost sales.
The company lost about 7.5 million yen due to Yoshida's actions. This was because of wasted delivery fees and storage costs.
Yoshida said she did not have a problem with the company. She said she was using shopping as a way to deal with stress, even though she could not afford the items.
Yoshida told the police she was very stressed in her daily life.
She said placing and canceling orders made her feel excited, like she was really buying the items.
Yoshida said she loves anime and ordering products made her happy, like her desires were fulfilled.
