Vietnam's durian exports to China are increasing

Durian makes up over 48% of Vietnam's fruit exports to China. Other fruits like coconut are also doing well.

Durian exports may keep growing fast in the second half of the year, says Dang Phuc Nguyen.

The Central Highlands, where most of Vietnam's durians are grown, is now in its peak harvest season.

If exports keep going at this rate, they will be higher than last year's 20% growth.

Durian exports are not just going to China. India is now allowing imports of fresh Vietnamese durian.

But durian is not well-known in India, so it may take time for people to start buying it.

At first, durian will likely be popular in big cities and stores that sell imported fruit.

Exporters can also try selling frozen or dried durian to test the market.

China bought $2.04 billion worth of Vietnamese fruits and vegetables in the first half of the year, a 25% increase.
