Being in Pot 1 helps Vietnam get a better group.

But other strong Asian teams are in the other pots.

Pot 2 has Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Thailand.

Pot 3 has Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Qatar, and the Philippines.

Pot 4 has Kuwait, Hong Kong, and North Korea.

Vietnam might still play strong teams like Uzbekistan or Saudi Arabia, and Iran or Qatar.

Even with top seed status, coach Kim Sang Sik will face a tough challenge.

The team is built for the future.

Vietnam will use its under-21 players, following the federation's long-term plan.

The tournament will prepare the team for other big competitions like the 2027 SEA Games and the 2028 Olympic Games.

The Vietnam Football Federation and Kim Sang Sik will also include experienced under-23 players for leadership.

The men's football tournament will be in Japanese cities from September 15 to October 3.
