Standard Chartered Increases Vietnam's 2026 Economic Growth Forecast to 9.5%

Standard Chartered has updated its economic forecast for Vietnam, saying the country's economy will grow 9.5% in 2026. This change is due to Vietnam's strong economic performance in the first half of the year. The bank also predicts 11% growth for 2027.

The bank has lowered its forecast for inflation to 4.4% in 2026 and 3.3% in 2027. It thinks prices might not rise as much. Because of this, the State Bank of Vietnam will likely keep interest rates the same to support the economy and keep it stable.

Tim Leelahaphan from Standard Chartered said Vietnam's economy has been very strong in the first half of 2026, with manufacturing, services, and investment all doing well.

Even though there are still global economic uncertainties, Vietnam has a solid foundation for the second half of the year. The country's domestic demand, investment in infrastructure, and production capacity will help its economy grow in a balanced and sustainable way.

Standard Chartered now has one of the highest forecasts for Vietnam's economy, predicting 9.5% growth in 2026.

Other international financial institutions also have a more positive view of Vietnam's economy. Last week, United Overseas Bank increased its forecast for Vietnam's growth to 8.5%.

Many leading financial institutions have increased their forecasts for Vietnam's economy, showing they have more confidence in its growth. They think domestic demand, investment, and infrastructure development will drive the economy's expansion, but external uncertainties still need to be watched closely.
