Typhoon Noul Hits Southern China

Noul is the strongest typhoon in China this year.

China's weather centre said Noul landed in Huizhou city at 3:50 a.m. on Sunday. Noul is the strongest typhoon to hit China this year. It brought strong winds and rain. Many people were evacuated.

Noul had strong winds of 110 km/h and was moving into Guangdong province, bringing rain and wind.

Over 715,000 people were moved to safe places in Guangdong. Train services were stopped on Sunday.

The weather centre said Guangdong and Fujian provinces would have heavy rain and strong winds. Many trees were uprooted in Huilai county.

About 350 flights were cancelled at Hong Kong airport. At least nine people were hurt in Hong Kong.

Typhoon Noul put southern China on alert, and thousands were evacuated.

As Noul approached Hong Kong, a scaffolding on a building fell, but no one was hurt.

Noul brought rain to parts of Taiwan. It was moving away from Taiwan on Saturday.

Earlier, Typhoon Bavi hit eastern China, and over two million people were evacuated. Another typhoon, Maysak, hit southern China on July 3.
