Thailand cuts visa‑free stay to 30 days for 60 countries

The Thai government announced that the visa‑free period for visitors from 60 countries will be reduced from 60 days to 30 days. The list includes Singapore, China, the United States and 27 European Union nations.

At the same time, tourists from Peru, Brazil and South Korea will be allowed to stay visa‑free for 90 days, an increase from the previous 60 days.

Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow said the reduction is part of a crackdown on crime involving foreign nationals and on people who abuse the visa system.

Thailand is the second most visited country in Southeast Asia after Malaysia. So far this year it has received 20.9 million foreign tourists, which is 3 % fewer than the same period in 2025.
