Comedian Jeff Dye Calls Fellow Comedian 'Childish' After Insult on Tesla
Comedian Jeff Dye responded to fellow comedian Laura Kightlinger writing an insult on his Tesla, calling her behavior 'inappropriate'.
Dye posted pictures from his Tesla's security cameras showing Kightlinger writing on his windshield.
Dye wrote that he performed with Kightlinger but didn't know her well. He said she wrote 'Douche' on his Tesla, which he found strange for a 60-year-old.
Another comedian, Joe Rogan, told comedians who criticized Kevin Hart to 'leave'.
Comedian Jeff Dye performed at a comedy club in New Jersey.
Dye's post about the incident got many views online. He said if he did the same to Kightlinger, she would talk about how women are treated differently in comedy.
Kightlinger is a writer and comedian known for her work on 'Will & Grace' and supporting Senator Bernie Sanders.
Dye is a conservative comedian who told Fox News Digital he's always been more conservative than other comedians.
Kightlinger posted her side of the story and a photo of the word she wrote on Dye's Tesla.
Other comedians, Conan O'Brien and Zach Galifianakis, said it's a misconception that comedy shows only target conservatives.
Kightlinger said she wrote on Dye's Tesla because she was annoyed. She called Dye's reaction 'embarrassing'.
Kightlinger apologized on social media and said she should have talked to Dye directly. Dye called her actions 'childish'.
Actor Kelsey Grammer thinks he may have lost roles due to his conservative views.
Dye responded to Kightlinger, saying he's not 'crying out' but holding her accountable for her actions.
Dye's management gave a statement saying his car was not vandalized and he posted the video to hold Kightlinger accountable.
Dye said writing insults on people's property is expected from teenagers, not 60-year-old women.
Entertainment reporter Christian Toto said the incident shows partisan friction in the industry.
Toto said comedians often pick sides and conservative comedians are used to criticism.
Toto said when you're a right-leaning comedian, you expect some backlash.
Toto added that while teasing is normal among comics, this incident crossed boundaries.
Toto said comedians have many ways to respond to criticism, like on stage or social media.
Toto said Kightlinger's choice of action didn't suit her well.
