To make the story feel contemporary, Topp moved the action from 16th‑century Scotland to today’s world of politicians and corporate boardrooms, and she re‑imagined the three witches as social‑media influencers rather than medieval seers.

Australian composer Christopher Gordon supplied the music, blending classical orchestration with his love of heavy metal. Eight musicians from the West Australian Symphony Orchestra play live on stage, while additional parts are pre‑recorded by overseas artists, creating a full, cinematic sound.

Topp says she hopes the production will draw people who think ballet is only about tutus, tulle and classical music, and that it will introduce new audiences to both ballet and Shakespeare.
