Game of Thrones Author George R.R. Martin Talks About His Depression

The author shared a personal update on August 3 on his blog.

George R.R. Martin updated his fans on his blog about a stressful time with ups and downs. He also celebrated the nine Emmy nominations for the HBO series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. He was happy about the nominations.

The author of the Song of Ice and Fire series said this year has been full of dreams coming true and nightmares.

Martin thanked his team for updating the blog and talked about the highs and lows he has been experiencing. He had not posted since February 19.

Martin wrote that he lost friends and battled sadness and depression. He said getting old is no fun. He turned 77 last September.

Martin also talked about the amazing times he had, including nine Emmy nominations for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

Martin hopes to attend the September ceremony in Los Angeles.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a loving adaptation of Martin's writing. It is based on his novella The Hedge Knight.

The blog post did not mention an update on the long-awaited sixth book in the Song of Ice and Fire series.

Martin talked about the 15-year delay of the book at New York Comic Con in 2025.

Martin said he has trouble with deadlines and does not feel happy about missing them. He wants to finish the book as soon as possible.
