During a walk they found a snake caught in netting. Both helped free it. Anh said, "I saw in her a deep compassion," and added that his feelings for her began to change.

Later that month Nha Trang suffered severe flooding. Roads were covered with water, but Anh rode his motorbike through the flood to find Nastya, showing his strong commitment.

In early 2026 the couple moved to Da Nang. They renovated a damp rental house, married in July 2026, and opened a Russian bakery together.

To close the language gap, Anh taped an English alphabet chart above their bed and studied Vietnamese. Nastya gave up smoking, cooked Russian dishes for him, and also learned Vietnamese every day.

Their story shows that couples can use simple tools, daily effort, and mutual compromise to overcome language barriers and cultural differences.
