Police allege the suspects belong to an organised criminal network that carried out over a dozen vehicle thefts and eight commercial break‑ins.

In several of the break‑ins, investigators allege the thieves drove stolen vehicles straight through storefronts to gain entry. After the crash, the cars were abandoned and replaced with other stolen vehicles for subsequent crimes.

One of the largest alleged thefts happened on June 14, when the suspects are accused of breaking into a trading‑card retailer in Ajax and stealing about $148,000 worth of merchandise.

Police estimate the total losses tied to the operation at roughly $1 million, with pawn shops, cannabis stores and jewellery stores among the businesses targeted.

Authorities have laid 229 criminal charges, including break‑and‑enter, motor‑vehicle theft, attempted theft, robbery, possession of property obtained by crime, and possession of automobile master keys and electronic devices.

Two 18‑year‑old Toronto residents face a combined 105 charges. Two younger suspects, aged 15 and 16, face more than 100 charges together and cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Acting Deputy Chief Glenn Courneyea said the crimes undermine community safety and cause significant financial harm to local businesses.
