Realising she did not fully understand the issue, Hailes researched AI’s impact on the creative industry and introduced a written policy that states, "AI has no place in the creative industry." She also posted an apology on Instagram, saying the change was meant to protect indie authors and keep community goodwill.

Nearby, 28‑year‑old sewing entrepreneur Chloe Young has been offering hand‑drawn posters as a direct alternative to AI‑generated flyers. Young said she started the service because she finds AI images “hollow, soulless and homogeneous,” and she wants local businesses to have a genuine, human‑made visual identity.

Marketing expert Park Thaichon, an associate professor at the University of Southern Queensland, explained that AI‑generated content often looks uniform and can damage consumer trust when businesses are not open about its use. He warned that lack of transparency may lead customers to feel misled.
