South Korea’s last summer with dog meat

South Korea will ban dog meat in February 2027. People used to eat a hot dog‑meat stew in summer. They said the stew gave them energy.

Today many families keep pets at home. Because they love animals, they no longer eat dog meat. Most people support the new law. Only some older people still visit markets for the traditional dog‑meat dish. Many restaurants now offer goat meat instead.

Some older restaurant owners feel sad. Their regular customers will miss the dish. They also understand that things are changing. The new law matters for the whole country.

Words to know: stew is a dish where meat and vegetables are cooked slowly; pet is an animal kept at home for fun; customer is a person who buys something from a shop.
