Why Nvidia’s Data‑Centre Revenue More Than Doubled: AI Spending Boom and a Growing Customer Base

Nvidia reported that its fiscal second‑quarter data‑centre revenue more than doubled, reaching US$89 billion, which was above the LSEG estimate of $85.08 billion.

The company also projected that revenue for the fiscal year ending January 2028 will rise by about 70 percent, far higher than the 44 percent growth that analysts had expected.

Chief Executive Jensen Huang said that artificial intelligence has hit its inflection point and is now performing useful and profitable work, turning compute power into revenue.

According to Shay Boloor, chief market strategist at Futurum Equities, Nvidia sees demand expanding beyond the original hyperscalers to include AI‑cloud providers, large enterprises, sovereign buyers and industrial customers.

Nvidia highlighted that its next‑generation Vera Rubin processors have started shipping and are expected to generate roughly one‑fifth of the data‑centre revenue in the current quarter.

Finance chief Colette Kress warned that shortages of memory components are creating supply constraints, which limit how quickly the company can grow its business.

Nvidia points to the surge in AI spending, a broader customer base and new product rollouts as key factors behind the strong revenue numbers, while noting that component shortages could slow future expansion.
