0:00Some calls come without warning, yet
0:02demand an immediate response. For many
0:04years, the GTO traffic rescue team has
0:07become a trusted source of help whenever
0:09traffic accidents or road emergencies
0:12occur. Behind every rescue mission are
0:14volunteers who set aside their own work,
0:17stay awake through the night, and do
0:19everything they can to give accident
0:21victims a better chance of making it
0:22home safely. More in the following
0:24story.
0:308:00 p.m. the night shift of the gun
0:32traffic rescue team begins.
0:36Everything must be ready because no one
0:38knows when the next emergency call will
0:41come.
0:46For team leader,
0:48every rescue mission begins with a
0:50memory he can never forget. Yeah,
0:56>> I lost two close relatives in traffic
0:58accidents because no one arrived in time
1:01to help them. That is why I founded this
1:03rescue team. We treat every victim as if
1:06they were our own family. Whenever we
1:08receive a call, we respond immediately.
1:12We started with just a handful of
1:14likeminded brains have brought into a
1:16team of dozens of volunteers. By day,
1:19they work in different professions. By
1:21night they wear their rescue uniform
1:24answering every call for help with
1:26compassion and dedication.
1:30I was once involved in a traffic
1:32accident myself. So I truly understand
1:35what victims go through. That's why I
1:37want to help others.
1:41For Mr. Tam and the other volunteers,
1:43every emergency call is a race against
1:46time. Some nights bring only a few
1:48incidents while on others the rescue
1:51vehicle barely has a chance to stop. The
1:54reward for those sleepless nights is
1:57knowing that another victim has reached
1:59the hospital safely. Miss Ing's one of
2:01them. If I hadn't met these rescuers, I
2:05probably wouldn't be here today. I'm
2:07deeply grateful to them.
2:11>> For Mr.
2:13collapsing while working on the roadside
2:15became an unforgettable experience
2:18thanks to the team's timely assistance.
2:24>> Thank you so much. Without your help, I
2:26don't think I would have made it home.
2:29>> The team's work goes beyond responding
2:32to traffic accidents at night. They also
2:35provide free transportation for patients
2:38from disadvantaged families. Quietly and
2:41without seeking recognition, these
2:43volunteers share one simple wish to
2:46arrive just a little sooner each time so
2:49that one more person can safely return
2:52home to their family. And perhaps that
2:54is the greatest reward for those who
2:57stay awake while the city sleeps.
