South Korea’s Investment Boosts Vietnam’s High‑Tech Growth and Connectivity
Two‑way trade between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea topped $80 billion in the first eight months of 2026, Deputy Minister Ngo Le Van noted. He added that the two countries aim to exceed $100 billion this year and reach $150 billion by 2030.
The Republic of Korea is now Vietnam’s biggest foreign investor. It has almost $8.4 billion in registered capital and about 470 active projects in Dong Nai.
Vietnam is overhauling its growth model toward science, technology, innovation and a quality workforce, Deputy Minister Ngo Le Van said. The plan prioritises artificial intelligence, semiconductors, smart infrastructure and clean energy, sectors where South Korean expertise is strong.
Vice Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Vo Tan Duc explained that Dong Nai holds a strategic position with all five transport modes, including Long Thanh International Airport and Phuoc An Port. The city is designated as a key growth pole and a regional connectivity hub.
Korean Ambassador Lee Miyun said Korean firms are expected to expand in advanced components, smart logistics, critical minerals and defence, supporting APEC Year 2027 and Vietnam’s digital‑era workforce training. Their continued investment will help Vietnam move toward high‑value, high‑tech industries.
