Lan Nong’s Nung Community Shows a Low‑Impact Net‑Zero Tourism Model

In 2025 the village was selected to pilot a Net Zero‑oriented tourism model involving thirteen households. The plan deliberately keeps the existing stilt houses, bamboo forests, streams and everyday routines intact, so there is no split between living and tourism spaces.
In early 2026 a VND2 billion solar project supplied electricity to all 13 homes. A new 2.5 km concrete road also opened, linking Lan Nong to nearby areas and improving transport.
By early 2026 the community launched five homestays and gave residents training in environmental protection and Net Zero standards. Each household now acts as one link in a manageable, low‑impact tourism network, focusing on preserving the environment and cultural authenticity.
The Lan Nong experiment shows that a small ethnic community can turn its heritage into sustainable tourism without harming its way of life. Keeping culture and nature together can create lasting benefits for both residents and visitors.
