Check Your Credit Card Bills for Bridge Crossings
A man who used the Gordie Howe International Bridge was charged twice for two trips and wants others to check their credit card bills.
Greg Layson crossed the bridge twice on July 29 and again on August 2. He had problems with his payments.
Greg's wife told him to check his Visa card because people were getting double charged.
When Greg checked, he found he was charged twice for one trip on July 29.
The bridge authority knows about the problem but did not talk to CBC about it.
The authority said some customers have reported problems with toll payments.
The customer care team is helping people who were charged incorrectly. They can be reached at 1-855-200-3299 or by email.
Customers should call the customer care line for all toll problems.
Greg called the bridge authority and got help right away.
The staff asked Greg for details about his trip, like the date and time he crossed.
They asked Greg for a screenshot of his credit card bill.
When Greg went to take the screenshot, the incorrect charge was gone.
But then Greg found out he was also overcharged on August 2.
Now Greg has to call the bridge authority again to fix the problem.
Greg only checked his bill because his wife heard about someone else's problem.
Greg wants people to check their credit card bills regularly to avoid problems.
