Woman Arrested for Vandalizing World War II Memorial

A woman is charged with two federal crimes for vandalizing the World War II Memorial. She damaged US property and a veterans' memorial.
The Department of Justice says Melissa L. Farris from Kentucky did the vandalism. She spray-painted 'Clean hands, dirty money' on the memorial.
The cleanup costs are over $1,000.
Melissa L. Farris posted a video on Facebook. She said she would turn herself in.
In the video, she said, 'It's me. I am going to turn myself in.'
There was another case of vandalism, but it was dropped.
Vandals poured bubble soap and painted graffiti on the World War II Memorial.
Melissa L. Farris said she was trying to get people to listen. She was crying.
Melissa L. Farris lives in a small camper. She uses cardboard to keep warm in winter.
Fox News asked the US District Court for a comment.
The US Attorney said vandalizing the memorial is a terrible attack on a sacred monument. The charges carry up to 10 years in prison.
President Donald Trump reacted strongly to the vandalism.
He wrote on social media, 'Our World War II Memorial was vandalized. This is a great insult to American heroes.'
The vandalism left parts of the memorial covered in a white substance.
The World War II Memorial is the latest monument in D.C. to be targeted.
