USS Abraham Lincoln’s Record‑Long Middle East Deployment Draws Attention in Thailand
The carrier had been part of the U.S. Navy’s strike group operating in the Middle East, supporting operations against Iran. Its uninterrupted time at sea reached 264 days, a record for a U.S. carrier, and the total deployment lasted 286 days, according to the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok.
During the deployment, reports highlighted growing worries about the crew’s mental health and shortages of essential food supplies on board.
The strike group also included the destroyer USS Frank E. Petersen Jr., which was anchored at Sriracha port, and the cruiser USS Robert Smalls, which was docked in Map Ta Phut, both locations in Thailand.
The Lincoln is expected to leave Thailand later this weekend and continue its journey back to the United States, turning a high‑profile port call into a brief home‑coming for its sailors.
