Brent’s Place micro‑shelter village aims to help homeless people in Scarborough

The project is led by Ryan Donais, the executive director of Tiny Tiny Homes. He says the village will give people a safe place to stay while they work toward permanent housing.
All the fences, trees and the digging work are paid for by donations. The land is leased from Sefonias Catering for just $1 a year for three years.
Brent’s Place will include a common area, a staffing office and a social‑work office where residents can meet doctors and counsellors. The team also plans to offer food and job‑training programs inside the village.
The City of Toronto is reviewing the plan to make sure it follows zoning, building and other regulatory rules before construction can continue.
Donais hopes the whole development will be finished by December 31, 2026.
If the village works, it will show how community donations and local businesses can create real help for homeless people, giving them a stepping stone toward a stable future.
