The probe is specifically looking into allegations that prisoners handed cash to officers in exchange for access to the lavish compound, a practice that would represent a stark breach of Indonesia’s correctional regulations.

Law professor I Gede Widhiana Suarda of the University of Jember warned that such corruption is "a major challenge for the Indonesian government" and stressed that comprehensive reforms are essential to prevent similar abuses in the future.
