New Polyclinic Plans Aim to Ease Care for People with Intellectual Disabilities and Autism
The same report recommends priority queues at polyclinics so that patients who have behavioural or anxiety‑related needs wait less time.
By 2028, at least three polyclinics – one from each public healthcare cluster – will be chosen to offer enhanced services such as longer consultation slots, pre‑visit preparation, and closer caregiver involvement.
From 2027, a health communication passport will be introduced. The passport records each person’s preferred way of communicating and any practical accommodations, helping staff provide a smoother visit.
The Taskforce on Assurance for Families with Persons with Disabilities was announced by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong in December 2025. Its five members are Senior Minister of State Goh Pei Ming, Minister of State Rahayu Mahzam, and Senior Parliamentary Secretaries Eric Chua, Shawn Huang and Syed Harun Alhabsyi.
Together, these measures aim to make primary care appointments faster, clearer and more supportive for people with intellectual disabilities or autism and for their families.
