Direct Hanoi‑Prague Flight Opens New Paths for Young Vietnamese
Seventy‑six years ago, Czechoslovakia was among the first countries to recognize Vietnam, establishing long‑standing diplomatic ties. This early support laid the foundation for decades of friendship and cooperation.
Last year, Vietnam and the Czech Republic upgraded their relationship to a strategic partnership, Czech Ambassador Lukáš Kaucký said. The partnership will be highlighted by a planned visit of Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš to Vietnam in December.
The first direct air service between Hanoi and Prague launched two weeks ago, the ambassador announced. A direct flight makes it easier for students, tourists and businesspeople to move between the two capitals.
The Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic, which started with the arrival of the first 100 Vietnamese children 70 years ago, is one of the country’s largest minority groups. The ambassador noted that this community plays a key role in keeping the bilateral ties strong.
With a strategic partnership, a new direct flight, and a vibrant diaspora, young Vietnamese now have clearer pathways for travel, education and commerce in the Czech Republic. These developments turn long‑standing friendship into practical opportunities.
