Da Lat’s Electric Rail Network: What It Means for Your Daily Travel
The planned urban rail system would stretch about 101.43 km across Da Lat. It is designed to run either as surface trams or as a monorail, offering a modern electric alternative to existing transport.
A 28‑km line from Da Lat Station to Lien Khuong Airport is being studied first, with implementation targeted before 2030. After that, five additional lines will link the city centre with popular spots such as Suoi Vang Lake, Langbiang Mountain, Tuyen Lam Lake, the Valley of Love and Tung Lam junction.
The plan also calls for upgrading three current bus routes into tram or monorail lines by 2035: from Prenn Pass to Mai Anh Dao bus station, from Cam Ly to Darahoa, and from Prenn Pass to Lien Nghia bus station. In addition, the 84‑km Thap Cham‑Da Lat railway will be restored to develop tourism.
The consultant said the new public transport network will ease pressure on roads, link tourist areas and city gateways, and help preserve Da Lat’s landscape. It aims to make daily commutes smoother for residents and visitors alike.
When completed, the network will give residents more choices for moving around the city and for tourists reaching key attractions. By reducing road congestion and supporting tourism, the electric rail could reshape daily life in Da Lat.
