iPhone users can try a new free upgrade - here's how to get it first
Apple announced iOS 27 last month. Now, some users can try it. The company has released its public beta software. This lets iPhone users test the upgrade before it's released to everyone in September. Users can sign up for the beta on Apple's website.
By letting users try iOS 27 early, Apple wants to find and fix problems. This way, the final version will be good when it's released with new iPhones.
What's new in iOS 27?
One big change is a big upgrade to Siri. Siri is Apple's smart assistant. It's getting better at finding information, responding to messages, and understanding complex requests. Siri can help with calendars, to-do lists, and travel planning. You can ask Siri questions like 'What flight is my mom on today?' or 'What time do I need to leave to get to Bristol?' and get a good answer.
A new Visual Intelligence mode is in the Camera app. You can point your iPhone at an object to get information. You can scan a restaurant bill to split costs with friends or point the camera at a meal to get nutritional information.
Another reason to install iOS 27 is if you have an older iPhone. Apple says iOS 27 is faster. This includes the iPhone 11 and iPhone 12, which will see big improvements. Apps will launch up to 30% faster, and photos will load more quickly.
There's a new transparency slider. This lets you control how glass-like the interface looks. You can make it clear or tinted, depending on your style.
Other changes include new app icons and better photo-editing tools. There's a new tool called Spatial Reframing. This lets you move subjects in photos after they were taken.
iOS 27 also helps you stay connected to the internet. It switches between Wi-Fi and 4G or 5G networks more smoothly. This reduces interruptions when you're moving around.
AirPods users can now control their listening experience better. There's a new AirPods Custom EQ feature. This lets you adjust bass, mid-range, and treble levels to your liking.
