From Drill Bits to Billions: Wang Xin’s Rise as China’s Only Female Newcomer on the Rich List
Born in Nanyang, Henan Province, Wang worked at a toy factory in Guangdong before moving into electronics sales. In 1997, at age 24, she started a business selling refurbished drill bits, which later became Guangdong Dtech Technology, and the company went public on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in November 2022, when Wang and her husband Lin Xia held shares worth nearly $1.1 billion combined.
Dtech benefited from rising demand for advanced electronics and AI‑related hardware, which need sophisticated printed circuit boards. Its net profit more than quadrupled to 1.1 billion yuan and revenue surged nearly 150 % to 3.5 billion yuan in the first nine months of 2026.
In July 2026 Dtech raised HK$4.8 billion (US$612 million) through a separate Hong Kong listing to fund its expansion. The company also opened manufacturing in Thailand and bought German precision toolmaker MPK Kemmer in 2025.
Wang Xin was named among Forbes Asia's 20 Power Businesswomen for 2026, highlighting her influence as the only female newcomer on China's 100 richest list. Her story shows how a small drill‑bit shop can become a global AI‑hardware leader.
