Why Dennis Quaid Chose Nashville Over Los Angeles

Quaid says many people in Los Angeles are unhappy because of high taxes, poor city services, and the damage from recent wildfires.

He and his wife, Laura Savoie, moved to Tennessee in 2020 after living in California for many years.

In Nashville, Quaid enjoys playing golf, having a lot of land and space, and being close to the city. He says it is a great place to raise a family.

Quaid explains that Hollywood auditions used to be in person, with actors waiting together in an office. Now most actors send self‑taped auditions from home, which makes the community feel smaller.

He adds that if he were starting his acting career today, he would choose Atlanta instead of Los Angeles because many production studios are now in the South.

Quaid says Los Angeles “has to get a little better,” but he might consider moving back in the future. He also notes he moved to Tennessee before the recent fires.
