CNA celebrated a major haul at the 2026 w3 Awards, taking home eight prizes – four gold and four silver – for its interactive pieces, videos and podcasts. The awards honour the best digital content worldwide.

The standout was “Finding My Father’s Killer”, created by CNA Digital visual journalist Ridhwan Siregar. It earned a gold award for its interactive article and a silver for the accompanying documentary video.

The team spent over six months tracking former rebels, military officials and a former captive, weaving their testimonies with archival footage and the Siregar family’s own photos and letters.

The interactive and documentary investigate the December 2003 killing of Indonesian journalist Ersa Siregar during the Aceh conflict. By following Ridhwan’s personal journey, the story also highlights the broader human cost of the war and the dangers faced by frontline reporters.

The w3 Awards, judged by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts in the United States, recognise excellence in digital storytelling. CNA’s achievement demonstrates how deep investigative research, personal narrative and multimedia techniques can combine to produce award‑winning journalism.
